I didn't really like riding in Winter when I only had a bike for transport & used it all year round. 13 mile each way commute on a variety of bikes that lived outside, so the seat was frequently frozen solid at 6.3am & hadn't thawed out by the time I arrived at work. Handlebar fairing & muffs helped, but 6V bikes wouldn't have run heated grips even if they had been available in the late '70s. On one occasion the bike (MZ TS150 on that occasion) stopped running at a traffic light & I found that a globule of water in the float bowl (a result od the bike living outside uncovered) had been sucked into the main jet, blocking it. Once cleared out, normal frigid service was resumed.
Can't say I really miss the Winter riding experience - got softer (and maybe a bit brighter !) in my old age.
