Trouble is, in my area of the West Mids, buses are rare creatures. When we moved here 15 years ago, there was an hourly service to both nearby towns. 3 a day now, none on weekends.
Even a couple of years ago, you could walk up to the main road, mile or so, & catch a bus every 15 minutes to either town from 6am to 1100pm. Now it's every 30, no service after 6pm. Or at weekends.
Weird thing is, been on holiday to isolated places in North Wales, far better service.
