Searching the Web for the shuddering engine problem; I may have found a solution on a forum on the subject.

It might be the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve, or the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.

If either of these gets out of wack, the engine can get the shakes; like I do when I drink too much XXXX Pale Ale.
