Jimmy, I thought I had found the problem when I discovered on opening the distributor that the condenser was almost coming off its mount and the negative lead from the coil to the side of the distributor was waggling about so I put the chap on hold and on a fine day I wheeled it out onto the drive to sort out. Unfortunately the distributor lies horizontally across the back of the crank-cases facing the back of the chaincase. In this position and given that my body doesn't seem to want to bend in the required places it wasn't an easy job to complete. Plus choosing to change the points didn't help much either. However with that job done the bike did actually start but didn't feel right. Stopping it and restarting it resulted in some fierce kick backs. So in short it wasn't worth taking it for a run. With all else that I have found wrong with it I have basically given up on it and am waiting for the man I had planned to get to work on it to find workshop time to look at it. Den
