Tests by the outdoor magzines suggest that the Nikwax spray-on stuff works better than the Wash-in after a wash in the Nikwax Tech Wash detergent free cleaner.
I have recently used Grangers Fabsil Gold concentrated proofer on some outdoor jackets, my old one piece oversuit and a pair of synthetic motorcycle gloves that were no longer waterproof. Water just sits on the surface of the items now, though when I was out in fog/continuous drizzle yesterday my "visor wiping" left index finger started to leak after 40 miles - last outing before reproofing both gloves let in water everywhere. Not perfect, but an improvement. The jackets & oversuit have been completely watertight.
This product is a clear liquid applied from a spray bottle or by paintbrush (which is the way I used it). Apply liberally to dry cleaned items & allow to dry off completely before getting wet. Smells a bit "chemically" until dry, but not really noticable after that.
Suprised to see this product in Halfords in the camping section for less than I paid online - £15 for a litre tin earlier this year & a litre goes a long way.
