I'll never forget her response to finding the starter pack wasn't there - straight on the Security Radio link to all staff.
"Who's robbed the f* battery pack? I need it for a Yank what's just come off the IOM banana boat! Over."
"Terry's took it home, his batteries knackered & he's on earlies. Over"
"Well you'd better ring him & tell him I want it back or I'll ring his f* neck. Out"
Back at the bike, looking at the wiring, she expanded our perception of her skills.
"Eh Lar, who the f* wired this?"
Fearful that she might think it was I, I observed,
"You seem to know exactly what you are doing?"
"Yeah, me dad and me brothers are all gobshites, no f* use. There it's done."
Poor girl was soaked, rain running off her head and down inside the hi-vis, but all she wanted was to see our American visitor happy with Liverpool - that's what we are like.
Then someone else's headlight failed, so I kitted him out with a head LED strapped to his helmet - better than the proper 6V proper light. Sure as eggs is eggs, the Bizzies pulled us over to see what a gang of bikes were doing off the main drag & why a bike in the middle had no headlight.
Satisfied that I was a Scouser, therefore trusted and escorting a bunch of aliens away from the City the parting words were issued,
"Go'ed, bugger off. Daft buggers riding to Debyshire in this. Have a good time!"
Bikes? It's the memories and the people who make them!
