I've just been enrolled on another 5 years observation research project.
Had a good laugh whenthe Senior Nurse managing this side recognised me from the 10 year intervention trial that ended in 2017.
2015 MadMike called in unannounced at the same time as my brother, also unexpected. NHS respected my 2 priorities set for them:
1. survival
2. back on my bike
A couple of years later a Consultant confided in me that I had not been expected to survive, then laughed and observed that the fact I kept turning up on a bike to clinics suggested a proxy indicator that I had survived.
There was also a handwritten note on my file from another (scooter riding) Specialist Sister who gave me a bollocking for bump starting the bike after my first clinic,
"You had 10s of £k Consultants' time & used probably £millions of equipment & we said we'd get you back on a bike, but we didn't say you could f***g bump start it!"
She was not laughing or joking.
