I use my heating as much as i need, however, i do have small electric heating pads i can put on my feet when sitting down and Mrs has a large wrap around electric blanket. It is far less cost to use heaters attached to you than run the heating but we use both. Getting cold to save money is not for me but during January, i will be sitting around beaches, and swimming in about 29 degree air temperatures.
In my area, many have log fires now which actually draw the heated air out of the house so if used with central heating, the house cools down until the log fire is out. Crazy set up but quite a novelty watching these people moving bags of logs into the garden then smashing them with axes. Keeps them warm though doing the excercise then go in, light the logs and make the house colder
