We were on our way back from the 2019 BSA International rally at Moreton-in-Marsh toward Chatham, and decided to route ourselves past the Ace Cafe.

We were on proper BSAs, mind you - A10s and A65s, all pre-1965. As we pulled in, all the old photos that I'd seen over the years of the Ace in its heyday flashed before my eyes.

We went in and got something to eat, I don't remember what but whatever it was, it was the most traditional thing I could get (egg and chips? Pie and mash?) and I remember that I thought it was very good.

Hung around for a bit afterward (we'd been taking back roads all the way and had taken about 3 hours riding to get there) but still had a ways to go, I who had never "filtered" in my life was getting ready to learn how to "filter" on the M25 and A2, so we pulled out and had to leave the Ace behind.
