I'm not a fan of the direct connection route & have yet to have a look through the Himalayan wiring diargam to see if there is a switched accessory supply available (I believe that there is on the Interceptor inside the headlamp shell).
Do you have hand guards fitted ? These help keeping the draught off (an some rain while moving). The original RE handguards for the Himalayan are easy enough to fit (in place of the bar-end weights) and are designed to clear the screen at full lock. As is ever the case the UK retail price for these is silly expensive (£85 or £90 IIRC) but they can be obtained from Indian sellers on Ebay for under £40 delivered. Searching for "genuine RE handguards for Himalayan 411" brings up several like this.
Put these in your "watch" list and after a couple of days you will most likely get a discounted offer bringing the price down to under £40. Mine (3 sets ! One set for the Scram, one set crash tested after 2 hours use and the final replacement set for the Himalayan) were got this way and all arrived in little over a week with no additional charges. Interestingly the genuine RE boxes that the sets come in have an Indian price label giving the maximum selling price including all taxes within India that works out around £25.
