I sent a speedometer on Sunday by 24hr delivery Royal Mail.

I didn't expect it to move on Sunday and it didn't but this morning, Tuesday, it has arrived in Nottingham and is due to be delivered around 9.30am.

£150 insurance as standard on this service.

It cost £4.25 as at 496grammes I thought I'd better put it in the up to 750g category in case my own scales are faulty.and it is actually over 500g, the lower price category.

Seems an excellent service for the price.

Personally, the idea of a Czech billionaire acquiring Royal Mail sounds too like water companies for my liking. Evri and Amazon often just ditch parcels round here and seem very pressurised to me. RM never ditch parcels and always have a smiley greeting. I hope that doesn't change. Why it would ever be a good idea to sell a utility or national provider abroad is something Thatcher never explained - and, of course, she was such a patriot!

I once made a claim with Evri who openly admitted they had destroyed, in transit, a parcel I sent. It eventually took strident emails to the CEO (in the Netherlands iirc) before they paid out my £10. I haven't used them since and have a very low opinion of them. I hope RM doesn't go that way under its new owner.
