>Wide tyres just do not grip on ice.
ROFLMAO Cobblers ...
I appreciate you wouldn't know it from the bollocks the BBC and ITV call "news" but it does snow and ice-up a lot in the Highlands, every winter without fail. Therefore, you'll also be surprised to learn all vehicles in the Highlands aren't all "narrow tyred Peugeots", there are a lot of the same modern vehicles as you see in Exmouth, Exeter, etc.
So what magic do Highlanders with modern wide-tyred vehicles use to drive in snow and ice? Just Google "snow tyres" ...
When the bollocks the BBC and ITV call "news" is filled with pictures of sliding vehicles with wheels spinning on ice and snow, the drivers are known here as "dickheads that didn't fit snow tyres" ...
>I now carry a device to fit over the wheels if i got stuck in snow
They're called "chains". Been around for a very, very long time. Dunno if Lidl still do but, for several years after we moved here, Lidl used to sell 'em for a few weeks at the beginning of winter - the set necessary for each car's in each car during the winter, sit in the shed during the summer.
Hth.
