The use and statutory location of safety glass is determined by the building regulations. For example if the cill is less than 800mm from the floor level then safety glass must be fitted. It can be either laminated or toughened glass. Similarly overhead glazing or even high level glass screens must be safety glass. The type is not specified. As an example we have all seen shopfronts that go all the way to ground level. Many are single shin laminated. The use of laminated means replacement is easier as it can be cut to size with no need for heat treatment, and so replacement can usually be same or next day if it is damaged.
Combinations of safety glasses are many and varied dependent upon location and use.
