Took the Morini 3 1/2 Strada that I bought late last year out for it's first "proper" ride after fettling / adjustment / checking over during the winter months. Prior to today I had only done about 40 miles doing short journeys / shakedown runs etc. This afternoon I notched up about 40 miles or therabouts. It did not miss a beat, and was happy both in built up areas and out in the countryside. For a 350 it has a surprising amount of low down torque, everyone says ride them like a 2 stroke to get the best out of them, they are certainly right it gets up to 8.5K pretty quickly which is peak power for the sport engine which mine has in it. It will toddle along at low speed when needed and you can still keep in a pretty high gear, 60 is a real pleasure. Not as quick as the KH which on paper is about 2 seconds quicker over the standing quarter and 0-60 times. Nothing bad to say about it really, it does drip a very small amount of oil but nothing to get excited about it does not burn any oil as far as I can see. If there is a downside it is the clutch, it takes a lot of getting used to, being a dry clutch it is not as progressive as a wet one, was surprised how quickly I got used to the gear and brake pedals being on the "other side". Only got it wrong once! Assuming there is more of the same to come, it will a great little bike to ride during the summer months. |
