The Germans do excellent museums - and usually very reasonably priced. The Deutsches Zweirad & NSU Museum in Neckarsulm, PS Speicher in Einbeck, Schloss Augustusburg near Zschopau, the foyer of the Audi Neckarsulm factory (formerly NSU ), the Audi Museum Mobile in the grounds of the Ingolstadt Audi factory (former relocated DKW factory), Mercedes Benz Museum in Cannstadt (Stuttgart), the August Horch Museum in Zwickau, Simson Museum in Suhl & the BMW Museum at the factory in Munich are all well worth a visit should you find yourself in the respective areas. Possible also to book factory tours at the Audi & BMW car factories for guided tours & have also done a tour of the BMW motorcycle factory in Spandau (Berlin) - Germany is proud of it's manufacturing. Only one I have been disappointed with was the VW Autostadt "installation" at the Wolfsburg factory - more art and corporate wokery than a car musueum, it passed a day but I wouldn't hurry back. Apparently there is a VW Museum in Wolfburg, but Autostadt isn't it. The more general Technical Museums at Sinsheim and Speyer have far more than just vehicles on display - very easy to spend a very long day at each. Nigel B. |
