My mother wouldn't allow me to go to the party in our street so had to watch from my bedroom window
My brother made a large wooden V signed whith fairy lights all over it this was attached to the front of the house als at the bottom of the front garden was an aircraft landing light that had red white and blue filters rotating in front the beam projected on our house .. the party went on well into the next day the roadworks was badly damaged by the huge bonfire lit at night.. I do have photos of it somewhere.. my memory of the past is OK just what I did yday I can't remember My sister wasn't there she was in a convent in Wales recovering??? From TB myself and brother also contracted it in 1940... so there you are TUD history the union jack goes up on Thursday
