Miners strike - an ex workmate of mine was in the Plod, policing that. Was always - on the odd occasion he was back in Worcester - banging on about how much dosh he was making. Also mentioned they had outside catering in, as they thought the locals couldn't be trusted.
Funnily enough, couple of years later was working for a mate of a mate on his bike. He was in catering, & his firm had a contract with the police at the time...'You wouldn't want to know what got put into their food'
