On my ride, i stopped for a few minutes and an Egli stopped in case i was broken. Told the rider it looked like one from Exmouth i had tried to buy 20 years ago at 22k but the man would not sell it. This rider bought it 11 years ago at 30k and it needed some work. I had known this bike for about 30 years and it came from Guernsey and that former owner paid 11k. It now has a Japanese forks and twin discs.
Small World when a bike not seen in 20 years reappears. Last owner died aged 74 but never really used it. When it arrived in his garage, he tried to start it and the spline stripped and he ripped his leg muscles apart needing an operation.
It was previously registered with an old 73 M plate but now has a 1971 registration number.
Nice to see it doing a fairly fast ride on the Honiton road. Never seen it on any classic rides but at least its going. Just a pity my 22k offer was turned down but it just was not for sale really. That owner was a good mate who also had an E type Jag and a few houses.
