When we were last in Cornwall, the best Cornish pasties were from ladies' kitchens, where they would have a window and counter opening from their house onto a walking path or a small alleyway.

And I've had dozens of Full English breakfasts in all kinds of places, but the best was from a chain restaurant in a services plaza off the main A road from the M25 north toward Lincoln (the A1, as I remember). Never would have expected that.
