Some of the greats really had it bad in later life. Phil Read was not very well looked after but someone stepped in to pay for his hospital treatment when he got ill. Phil used to be at autojumbles selling his autograph for 10 quid. Last time i saw him he was selling books with his wife. I had a chat with him but no one seemed to know who he was at that show.
One that is rarely recognised is Milky Quayle but i also found Peter Williams was often not recognised as he was at various shows. He was also selling books at Shepton just before his death.
