Quite funny in 1969 and a lot of BSA C15s had long backrests and vertical exhausts along with L plates.Most of the bikes round here were beaten up old BSA A10s and Triumph 500s. At hta time, there were also some bikes with sidecar chassis and concrete block and L plates. One of my mates had a Panther 650 or 600 with sidecar and got caught drunk with 2 passengers. He hit something but uninjured. Many L plate riders had Villiers 2T engined bikes that made noise but not much speed.
Wimpy bar by the station was the meeting place and the station wall pavement was an oil slick where they all parked. A time when a few Hondas appeared and one brand new Rocket 3 in red and cream and it sounded awesome. Best looking local bike was a suzuki supersix in race trim with alloy tank and fairings parked down by the docks. Great times.
