I use 3 air-source heat pumps to heat and cool my house and my garage.

Our electricity is $.058/KwH (a little less than 6 cents; I understand that yours is about 25p per KwH, about 5 times our cost), and we don't have gas laid on out here, so for us, they're very economical. My monthly electric bill for everything is $168/month including the heat pumps.

They're a pretty standard installation for the past 40 years here and work well.

Massively subsidized "green" energy warps the price of everything, which is why heat pumps are a "farce" for you. That will correct itself as the original solar and wind arrays wear out and break and don't get replaced, to be a blot on the landscape for decades to come ....
