Was there something of note going on in your village or nearby Dave ?

It is possible to ask for a flyby by from the BBMF - IIRC they have some process for assessing the requests & if something gets the OK and there is an aircraft in the area or en-route between displays they will detour to your event. Cricket club local to me put is such a request for their 150th anniversary a number of years ago, got approved & a Spitfire duly arrived & did a number of passes before departing. Shame the weather wasn't too good on the day from my photography perspective !

Always a good day when Merlins pass overhead - and the more in formation at the time the better.
