National Trust is good with annual membership. I was a member but after seeing all the houses within 100 miles, it was not worth keeping the membership going. Visit about 4 houses to break even then all the others are a bonus. Some good ones locally.
Best of the big houses i found was Victoria and Alberts house on Isle of Wight, Osbourne house, but that is not NT.
