Who introduced VAT on those well-known luxuries - gas and electricity?


While we were in the EU, once Vat had been applied to something it could not be removed & the lowest permissible level allowed was 5%.

Having left the EU we are now free to remove the Vat on domestic fuels, but neither the last lot nor the current lot have chosen to do so. Wonder why ?

A pox on all their houses - they are all as bad as each other. Though in the case of the current shower I think they set a new bar for the disconnect between the lies they spun before the election and the reality afterwards.

When we eventuually reach State Retirement age & start to get the State Pension, we will receive one WFP between us (if it is still available in couple of years time) as Mrs B. will be over current proposed income limit. But I am not holding my breath that such "perks" that I paid for through 45 years working will actually be available when I come to "officially" retire.
