Last tyre I bought myself was held in DPDs customs warehouse in Brum for 3 weeks untild HMRC cleared the shipment.
Tyres can't go in landfill as the can be ignited underground and are self oxygenating. There was a massive underground fire near Dunstable on A5 some years ago, impossible to extinguish.
