Probably along the lines of the passage in "Zen & The Art" where Pirsig describes taking his Honda to the back of a gravel parking lot & dropping the sump contents to do an oil change.

The late friend I bought my R100RT from casually mentioned in conversation that he put his used oil down the drain & had done so for decades. Seemed suprised that this was frowned upon & that recycling was a thing !
