In 1962 I had a bad experience with Commerfords. They advertised a 350 DB 32 Goldstar in MCN. I made arrangements over the phone to view it. I travelled from Norwich to Thames Ditton on my little 175 FB Mondial, 240 miles round trip, quite a journey at the time.
When I arrived I was informed it had been sold, but would I like to look round for something else I might be interested in. Needless to say I was not over pleased, expressed my feelings and left.
Come MCN the next week, there it was, advertised again. My brother rang them, and was informed, yes it is "still" in stock to view, too which he ask, why then would you not sell it to my brother last week.
"Oh" just a moment I will check, yes very sorry it has been sold.
I don't think it ever existed, it was a draw to get you there, in the hope you would buy something else.
Not a great experience at the time.
