I wouldn't be that keen to return to the '50s = '70s death rates due to inadequate gear and poor circuit design. Far fewer races, but maore fatalities most years. Fatalities still happen, but fortunately far fewer and now mainly seem to be due to unfortunate circumstance rather than systemic shortcomings.
The rules changes next year seem to be to try to reduce races being won by programmers and on-bike technology rather than outright rider skill - aerodynamics, ride height devices, launch control, programmable engine braking, torque mapping yada yada yada. The sheer number of buttons and adjusters the riders have to get to grips with is mind boggling.
Hopefully the change to Pirelli will sort some of the tyre woes that Michelin have brought and failed to improve upon for the last few years - not acceptable for them to have a "better" front tyre that alleviates some of the current verison's shortcomings, test it to almost universal approval from the riders & then refuse to produce it.
I would not accuse the current crop of riders of being lacking in the balls department !
