I am happy to hold a bike up with a metal knee. They are very strong and still good at over 20 years now.
I would agree with Lannis about all the electronics playing up. Both my modern Triumphs have management lamps on but both ride perfectly. The R111 speedo has a solder fractured inside so its left not working.
The engine faults are possibly emission sensors.
