Saturday early for 3 of us. Been doing some work on the Spitfire the boy bought. So, all filters are clean, it has equal compression on each cylinder, a good spark after cleaning the points. Made an engine drain plug as these bikes dont have one. Only bad part was a worn Japanese made chain so buying a Renolds one at Cheddar. Ordered a new Boyer MK 1V ignition and they will work with 12 volt coils now.
This bike was not cheap at 4750 and i expect it needs 1000 pound spending but those used carbs can sell for 700 on ebay. It will need an Indian made steel tank next.
Its a very good condition low mileage so very original but it will be getting Concentric carbs as the remote float Amal GP carbs will be trouble.
More work on that one next week but it is ready to try a start up.
