I and five other guys are leaving on a three week 3000 mile motorcycle trip to Texas and Louisiana on 1 June, to visit an old biker friend who can't ride any more.

I asked the other guys on the ride whether they'd like to activate some sort of location app on their phones so that if we got separated in the wilds of the Texas plains or the Louisiana bayous, we could find each other easily.

They said "No thank you" to a man. Too much like wearing an ankle monitor, I suppose. Interesting toy but technology can intrude too much ....
