yes attendance allowance , paid to assist single people with getting on with life there were 2 rates, small payment was about £60 summot , the larger payment is £114 per week
Ironicly this payment can be used as a legal stepping stone and get you (or him) pension credit , this will then get him a reductio on c/tax , winter heating things , and help with specs and teeth etc etc

I would suggest he asks you for help , and you check and make the claim for him , nothing lost
