It was at Minehead and no parking near this bank so just stopped to use the machine. Not much traffic in the side street in Minehead at that time. These badges have serial numbers that give the holders date of birth and wether male or female. They use X for male and Y for female and the DOB is put in a different order.
Much more difficult to get now as i found a few weeks ago when my Grandaughter applied but i did persuade them they had no justification to refuse the badge.
My Mum had one so she could go out in any car and display her badge. You dont need to drive to get one.
They also give exemption to hospital parking charges and many car parks around Towns. You can also park on any street that has residents only parking, 3 hours on double yellow lines and unlimited time where the sign says 30 minutes. You must not cause a traffic problem or park in loading areas. You do need to read the book that is issued with the badge. If a copper asks you to move, you cannot refuse and will have to obey his command.
