The type i bought about 10 years ago had width adjustment for tyres. The bikes could still fall over just using the chock but the idea of just pushing into the garage and walking away has worked well. I do also have a piece of 12 by 4 wood under one footrest.
The bike is much more stable when the sides have anti slip tape.
I fitted one on the bike lift and one next to it on the concrete floor. They also make a great ground anchor to chain a bike too when going away
