Replacing casement windows with sliding windows is a big mistake; casements can be moved to different angles to catch the breeze; sliding ones close off half the opening because only one half can slide. If both halves can slide, half is still closed off.
Sliding windows are also bug traps, as the sashes need cleaning regularly. All house windows here, to my knowledge, are glass.
