Had the same issue when I renewed my licence a while ago, I got thoroughly peed off with it.
Ended up driving 20 miles to a Post Office branch that could deal with it. They did it in about 5 mins.
Modern Tech eh, all geared to shortening the lives of us oldies through frustration.
Who needs a signature anyway......
