Re: Theiving HMRC

Buying a Council house in someone else’s name isn’t as straightforward as it sounds as usually, unless the rules have changed since I bought one, the Council will only sell to the person / persons named on the rent book it then becomes theirs to do with as they please. If she decides to keep it then the value will become part of her estate when she passes and apart from HMRC rubbing their grotty hands she may have bequeathed her estate to be divided up amongst many and the guy who paid the money up front could be left with very little return. Let’s hope he had it transferred to his name soon after purchase. That of course could prove troublesome if she passed soon after, enter the HRMC again, but that’s a problem for another day. Den
