Its hard to cover your tracks Andy but just be aware that if you have surplus funds, start giving some away in cash to the dependants to use while they are still youngish. I did about 15 years ago and they have had some really nice holidays with their children that they would not have had based on what they earn.
There is a limit you can give it away each year but if you draw cash you can spend it any way you want.
When you get older or dementia etc might get you, the Nursing home owner will thanks you for buying him a new Audi or Merc.
My Uncle spent 600,000 pounds on his private care and Auntie spent about 400,000 pounds as they were wealthy.
At over 65, there is not much you would be buying for yourself and money accumulates. Giving it out will give some satisfaction that the Nursing home will not be using it.
I will be wasting a lot this year on holidays and a new car and i will have fun doing it.
