When Sgt. Nigel, Police Motorcycle Instructor, was both disciplining and teaching riders at Dutch Eddie's (including us under-age), he gave us loads of good positive riding instructions and tips & used to laugh what to do if you got it wrong.
It amused him to use BSA even though he was on a Speed Twin - if facing danger choose these in order, until you are clear, or crash:
B - brake to reduce impact speed, but keep the bike upright.
S - swerve, let brakes go & swerve around the incident, if there's room.
A - accelerate clear.

The Bizzie's Bikes were famed to be the fastest accelerating vehicles in Liverpool, low geared but flat out at just over 70 mph & they proved it regularly.

Some of Sgt. Nigel's top tips:
be your own idiot, don't follow the other idiot blind;
never accelerate into a closing gap;
never overtake on the approach to side roads;
never open the throttle until you are sure you won't have to back off;
snow is fun, but ice is painful.

Pity we now leave kids wanting to ride doomed as targets for drug dealers and runners, rather than finding them Sgt. Nigels. I did for some 50cc twist & goes here some 15 years ago & was thanks by Northants Traffic Police.
