There were 4 of us boys living at home. 3, including me, liked the Rootes group cars. Minxes and Rapiers and 1 liked Ford.
I did get a rusty BMC Mini Cooper and that cost me a huge amount in repairs over 2 years. One good feature of the BMC was the A and B series engines which were good for reliability.
One Brother liked Austin Maxis and had a few of those and they were also very rusty at 5 years.
Worst rusty car i owned was a 1961 SAAB 96 2 stroke and it rotted away under the bonnet eating its inner wings as it drove. A 5 year old Vauxhall 101 at 5 years had holes in the sills you could put a hand in. I learned a lot about body fillers and aluminium mesh bodging until 1983 when i bought my first new car and not had any long enough to rust since.
