Not had a spare wheel for 22 years now as the makers save on the cost and weight. All cars i looked at had the pump and seal kit which is standard issue now. Not used one so far as punctures have usually been screws or nails and the tyre stays up. I have had one puncture that could not be repaired so towed to a tyre fitter for replacement.
I am not likely to be changing a wheel out on the road due to age and safety now. Back in the 1970s i always had a spare wheel as i had no breakdown cover.
Never had to replace a set of tyres as i am low mileage driver now and they dont wear very much with about 6000 miles a year.
I did replace one this year when i clipped a kerb and took a slice out of one. Sidewall damage so not safe to use
