Budliegh has always been known for its elderly drivers problem. A nice retirement Town for the wealthy. Beach is just pebbles and fairly good sea water. Last xmas day swim 2 men died as they all went in the water when waves and wind were far too bad. As the all tried to get back in to shore, the waves beat them down on the pebbles. Lucky only 2 died. A lot of famous people lived near. Sir Walter Raliegh at East Budliegh. Stan from on the Buses, the man who developed the first hovercraft, that round one with central fan. Many painters. The author of the I-Spy books.
Some great Regency houses just out of normal view at the rear of the High street.
They have just reflooded land at The river Otter that runs into the sea so now a very large lake area with wildlife and visiting birds. It was worth doing this alteration.
