Managed to get it MOTd as mentioned in a thread lower down. |
Been doing a bit of fine tuning to the carbs and think I have got it about right now going by the state of the plugs, and the way that it now picks up, no bubbling / farting / 4 stroking.
Only 2 things bother me now.
Firstly the clutch slips whent it hits 6k RPM, just like flicking a switch, possibly caused by the strange oil that was in the gearbox, possibly by worn components, only one way to find out so it will have to be stripped down.
Really need to fix it as the "fun zone" starts at about 6K through to 8K.
Secondly fuel consumption, around about 25MPG, which I am told it about normal, so a full tank will give me about 90 miles range
Having said this, it does go very well, once I fix the slippping clutch it will go even better
Sounds lovely but a bit loud.
The bike is physically quite small and takes some getting used to.
As to whether I keep it the jury is out as they say.
The astronomical fuel consumption alone may mean that it's stay with me might end sooner than I thought, but it does have quite a bit going for it - it is so light, handles pretty well, and that sound just makes you want to use the revs - that's what they were made for !!
Think I'll give myself time to fix the clutch and get some more miles in on it next year before I decide it's fate.
I will be a shame not to get some payback for all the time / effort I have spent on it.
Who needs a signature anyway......
