That cops ahead one, we used that a lot in the 1970s when out in the cars racing around the local streets. Police had a fleet of 1971 Morris Minors at the time. The other way to spot them on your tail at night was to look out for the central aerial as not many private cars had one. We had quite a lot of races in the Sprites, Midgets and Coopers.

Two problems with that, 1) That's the tank squadron leader's signal to "Speed up!" and 2) No one but you and me and couple other old men have ever pulled a chain to flush a hopper ....

There is quite a few pubs that you still have to pull the chain to flush.

Er, I rather think that's a German-beer drinking preamble Lannis; never seen it happen in any pub I've been in. Also, for some unexplained reason, probably lost in the mists of time, beer drinkers in the northern parts of England prefer beer with a 'head' on it whereas those in the soft southern parts insist on very little or no head, with the beer being level with the top of the glass when pulled.

I met an Australian in a brew pub in Pueblo Colorado in 2013 who said "just blowing the foam off one mate", but that only means it's not exclusively German, doesn't mean it's English.

Nothing gets my English buddies' dander up like an American stranger over here asking "Are you Australian?" after they hear them talk. Paul Hogan and the insurance lizard are to blame ...
