That is a great shame, he was one of my favourites. "Don't let the sun catch you crying" is a classic. RIP.

Shame. The BBC news listed a couple of the songs he'd written. But it didn't include "Ferry cross the Mersey"

. They are still playing it on the ferries 'cross the Mersey. Or were a couiple of years ago when I visited Liverpool for the first time.

I've crossed 4 times, and it played 100% of the time every trip ... It's been 55 years or so, aren't people tired of it yet?

Thank God they never did "Tunnel Under The Mersey".

Well, since none of us are going to make it out of this alive, and are 100% vulnerable, maybe it's a good thing to "feel" vulnerable.

The regular , pre Covid, retort to any business related urgent query to a lovely laid back Greek colleague of mine in the Athens office is “ why worry, we might not be alive tomorrow”.
All very well, but a bit of a pain if we are not. He always brightens my day.

I wouldn't go quite so far as to say "Nothing matters, we could die any minute", but unlike many of my older relatives who make no plans and who insist on staying in their houses and driving their cars even when they are incapable of doing so ... I DO know that this won't last forever, so I don't live as if it will.

Do everything you can do, do the things you enjoy, but adjust as you go. My Mom was bad about that; she told people (including us) that she still loaded up and took her trash to the landfill every week, when in fact she hadn't done it in 5 years - we were doing it for her ....

I said that not thinking very active from being an athlete for the Middlesex County then bikes and racing and more bikes plus long hikes(walking) plus running and owning two businesses then having more fun when retired.. And now buggered because of all the pills I have to take to keep the clock ticking... Bikes are on the back burner at the moment... But as said now feel vulnerable..

By chance came across the last episode of Still Game last night. Very well done and no warning.
Each of the main characters appeared as per normal then slowly vanished mid stride
(apart from Navides wifey who you see for the first time ever)
leaving the life around them going on without a ripple. Sigh.
Don't watch it if you are over 65.
