Whatever the bike is I can't see what the Scottish accent has to do with it's identity.

And Lannis that's a broad Lancashire accent also the lady taking the nap was Mollie Sugden, seen in a later sit com about staff in a department store called "Are you being served" frequently talking about troubles with her Pussie the inuendo refered to her feline pet but was allowed be missinterpreted!!

I stand corrected shiner, it's many years since I watched it and I didn't have the sound up. Clitheroe should have given me a slight clue.

I believe modern American English bears more resemblance to language in the UK in the 17th century than modern English spoken in the UK. Could this possibly be because regional English dialects died out early on in America, as everybody learned to speak the same way in order to be understood?

You don't have to be crazy to post here, but it helps....
