Blast from the Past

I found this when browsing my collection. Can anyone name the people in it? If *you're* in it, please don't say.

Extra marks for any suggestions as to the owner of the bum on the RH side. This was taken in 2005.

It was an educated guess seeing who else was there....and (ahem) stature excluded the possibility of it being Kevin the Bodger/photographer. My only other candidate was LJ (if I remember that was his name right?).

He did indeed. And sometimes he would turn them up so loud they would start feeding back and make a high-pitched whistling that everyone could hear from some yards away. Everyone but LJ, that is.

He also had a cunning method to win awards at rallies = getting his kids to wash & polish his bike while he sat back & enjoyed the social activities.

His wife Alison got the implant; LJ was using the bone-conduction hearing aids.

LJ was into old bikes as hard as he could go for a while, 8 years or so, he and Alison came over here and stayed at my house as a matter of fact and rode with us.

Then he got into "Second Life", the on-line thing and sort of dropped bikes, then he went full-boat into radio-control airplanes. I've lost touch now, I suppose they're still in Peterborough? No telling what he's into now.

LJ and Alison were both completely deaf, and had to depend on the bone-conduction and lip reading to hear anything. They made their way in the world very well, though, despite that obstacle ... the joke was that you had to be careful, if you were taking the piss out of him 200 feet away he could spot it and tell what you were saying ... !

Good folks. I always admired them. Might meet again some day, who knows.

He actually brought a gold pan over here ... there were gold mines once in the county next to this one (Buckingham) and he'd heard of it.

Could be a useful hobby! Maybe it paid off for him, LJ never seemed to be short of a bob or two ...
