They are already softening us up to yield to the EU's DEMAND that we give them our anti virus supplies
even after screwing our brave fishermen to the wall. Grrhh.

I am not interested in visiting England after my reception there last time ruined mine holidays in London. I just tinker with mine collection of WW11 Zundaps, polish mine silver collection and count the gold bars.

I did watch the PMs speech this afternoon and thought what a load of To---rs the the questions asked by the media and public no wonder we are in a state.. if this the mindset of the nation
Local news last night hundreds of calls to estate agents in the West Country asking for details of second homes.. Two agents refused to allow them to view...

I've stopped watching the BBC - its journalists just don't ask searching questions. Sky is much better and for the first time in my life I'm questioning the value of the BBC.

And, TuD, I agree, the questions asked are just useless. Which is probably why those are the ones selected to be asked.

Every now and then I come across politicians from other countries, NZ and Scotland spring to mind, who answer questions directly, answer the question.that was asked etc. Watching 'Thatcher: a very British Revolution' a month or two back, I was struck by the way she engaged with and answered questions thoughtfully and was prepared to develop her arguments live. Since Blair all I hear from English politicians is filibustering hot air: good questions are ignored by waffling off on a tangent.

for the first time in my life I'm questioning the value of the BBC.

I got that way with the BBC over the Brexit coverage & they have not got any better with the current situation. I subscribe to Readly for magazines & they have, since Autumn last year, added a number of national daily newspapers - I tend to read a selection for alternative viewpoints and more in-depth coverage than the BBC currently offer.

Unfortunately they will have been "Media Trained" - all they will give as an answer to any question is the POV that they have been instructed to give or wish to push. Mrs B was at one point the appointed department "Media person" & had to give on-air commentaries on local radio on her (national govenment) department's monthly statistics. She was "Media Trained" and briefed beforehand on the departmental line that was to be pushed to the fore - regardless of question, the answers were turned around to come back to the briefed position & excentuate the positives that were to be highlighted.

The minister who gave an unguarded (proabaly accurate, though) answer this week on live TV along the lines of we have a higher death rate than other countries because we are older, fatter & unhealthier didn't hang around when the interviewer put her unguarded, un-briefed comment back to her.

I gather that for once we (the UK) put our orders in well before anyone else in an effort to secure supplies.

I know what the answer would have been had the EU placed their order first.

If, as they threaten, the EU block exports of the Pfizer vaccine to the UK then as far as I'm concerned we should block exports of the Oxford vaccine to them.

This is a great example of the over bearing, arrogant, bully boy approach of EU politicians which made me reluctantly vote to leave.

You don't have to be crazy to post here, but it helps....

I voted to get out I DO remember what it was like before we went into the EU it wasn't what we were after at the time we were sold down the river and agreed by he following government's at that time I was part working import export business and It Fkd it all up and everybody was whingeing until they were given subsidies like the farmers but remember the fishing vessels that were scrapped..
We could and did trade with anybody one of the first we dropped was meat from down under and Argentina then we bought coal from Poland..
Cut flower from South Africa to name a few when we were producing ourselves..

May I take this moment to point out to the house that as you probably know by now I'm no fan of the BBC,
all that arm and hand waving stuff, I was just skipping channels when I caught the item.
Further - Always been a fan of Boris but isn't it time for him to have some speech therapy.
I can't think of another World leader who stutters and fumbles so much. An embarrassment.
I'm sure Goering wouldn't stand for it.

Unfortunately Sparrow he doesn't write his speeches some minion does that then it's passes through various departments in the party being amended on the way... Two of my relatives work for the government and one does exactly that the other one her son works in connection with DEFRA and knows bugger all... When I asked him why do I get £500 a year for not grazing my sheep on Dartmoor
I didn't and don't have any sheep but was a commoner and had rights to graze sheep and ponies on the Moor.. He hadn't a clue..
I feel for Borris thrown in the deep end.. I nearly didn't vote for him but there was nobody better...

Certainly this was a major influence on my decision, had it been left as a "Common Market" as it originally was, I have no doubt that we would not have left.

It was always bound to happen. Boris was never cut out to be Prime Minister. Main reason is he wants to be liked by everyone.
To be PM you have to lead the country and that involves making tough decisions that a proportion of the population will not like but for the good of the majority. Boris has made so many U turns he is an effing joke. Why? because every time he has done something and someone tells him 'Oohh they don't like that' or 'they won't like you for that' he changes his mind because he can't stand the thought of someone somewhere not liking him.
Instead of being so pathetic he should man up and live up to his responsibilities.
100,000+ deaths later? I sincerely hope he's looking for the exit signs!
(Sorry Bryan, I know you don't do politics but this needed saying)
