Lockdown

Warning lockdown July and August..
The holiday industry in Cornwall has had an eightfold bookings for holidays in the area...
That is why that in the southwest we had the lowest number of Covid cases and now it's four times higher than the original high at the beginning.. Because they came down after the first lockdown..

On the bright side the residents of Magaluf will be spared the stag and hen crowd.

I've been trying to book sites in the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales for my motorhome for June and July (in ten years I've never toured before with it in the U.K.) but sites are becoming very booked up - many popular ones are already full.

I've just rebooked a cottage in Yorkshire. We were going in November, then March, now April.

What have we come to when I can get excited about a week in the middle of Yorkshire

We should consider ourselves fortunate. Poor old Kate is exhausted looking after three kids during lockdown. Perhaps they've fallen on hard times and sacked all the staff.

I read it that no one can can go nowhere until every last mothers son in the World has had the jab
and proved not to be a carrier, otherwise it will all kick off again.
Shame Boris has not been told so he doesn't keep raising false hopes.
This precludes of course the rise and effect of other super variants.
Hopefully I'm wrong. If so I will foot the bar bill at MMs next party in 2026/7.

My late brother in law who originally hailed from Whitburn maintained it wasn't the Scots race who were tight; only those from Aberdeen. A more generous man you couldn't wish to meet on the calling of last orders.

in ten years I've never toured before with it in the U.K.

I had to change plans last summer when travel to the Continent was suspended - a week in the Lakes, followed by a week in the Cotswolds rather than 3 weeks in Europe with MH & bikes on trailer.

If this year's crossing is cancelled again (actually last year's crossing re-booked) I will be leaving the MH at home - it will be more fun ! If we can travel within the UK but not go abroad, then a few Premier Inn / Travelodge overnights will be booked & link them together on the bikes instead.

Giving serious consideration to selling the MH if going to Europe is not possible / too much hassle. Long weekends in the UK are OK-ish, but not extended stays. The MH only justifies itself as a means to a European end for me.

Motorhome. Reply was to Spriddler's post regarding booking Uk saites for same, but it got placed out of position.

Knackered wrists preclude long distance touring by bike now, but driving the MH isn't as much of a problem (yet !). So until the start of the current situation, my annual trip to the Alps & Dolomites for a hairpin bend fix has been by MH with bikes on a trailer for the last 10 years.

It is a peculiarity of this forum that sometimes direct replies to a post don't get posted beneath the original. On occasions this leads to replies not being read consecutively and context being lost.

As Spriddler's post, to which I directly replied, specifically mentioned trying to book UK sites this summer for his motorhome, my reply read consecutively to his post would perhaps have made reference to "MH" more understandable.

Apologies for any confusion caused by my use of an abbreviation that I made a mistaken assumption was widely known, exacerbated in this case by a shortcoming of the forum software that is unlikely to be addressed.

I shall endeavour to try harder in future.

I need to try this on a more up to date posting,(I think if you post in view thread mode it goes to the bottom of all of the postings ,but if you post on an individual post only I think it appears directly under that post so going to try a gobldygook post on a moor up to date thread

I've found that if you change the heading your post will often appear directly under the post you're responding to' Not foolproof though.
